Islamic Country Must Hold Veto Power in UN Security Council for Just Global Representation : Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged on Monday that Muslims, who make up a quarter of the world’s population, must have fair representation in global decision-making bodies.

Speaking to foreign ambassadors in Ankara, he stressed that Muslims deserve a rightful place in global governance.

Erdogan also emphasized the must for an Islamic country to hold veto power in the UN Security Council, reiterating his long-standing “The World is Greater than Five” initiative.

He stated that such representation is no longer just a necessity, but an imperative for a more balanced global order.

These remarks were made during an iftar meal, marking the end of the daily fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

The president’s comments further reflect Turkiye’s call for reform in international political structures.
