Cat Rescued by Police After Being Locked Inside Car at Ankara Airport

A cat that was locked inside a car at Ankara Esenboga Airport was rescued by police after concerned citizens reported the situation.

The incident took place on February 11, 2025, when passengers and visitors noticed the animal trapped inside a parked vehicle in the airport’s covered parking lot.

The Airport Protection Branch police arrived quickly and freed the cat, taking it to a nearby veterinarian for a health check. Authorities traced the car’s owner through the license plate, discovering that they had left for an international trip, leaving the cat locked inside.

Legal action has been initiated against the owner in accordance with Türkiye’s Animal Protection Law No. 5199, which prohibits animal neglect and mistreatment.

While the cat’s condition post-rescue remains undisclosed, the prompt response of the public and police officers ensured the animal’s safety.
