President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) parliamentary group, warning the YPG terrorist organization that if it continues to control Syria’s natural resources and refuses to surrender its weapons, it will not escape the consequences.
Erdoğan highlighted that Turkiye’s interest in the situation in neighboring Syria is natural, as both countries share centuries-old fraternal ties and a 911-kilometer-long border.
He emphasized that Turkiye is working to resolve all issues faced by the Syrian people, including the Kurds, and guarantees their security.
The president condemned the YPG’s occupation of Syria’s natural resources, asserting that if the group fails to disband and submit to arrest, its end will be imminent.
Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to working alongside its Syrian brothers to eliminate ISIS and other terrorist organizations from the region.
In his speech, Erdoğan also addressed the issue of Israeli attacks and called for an immediate cessation of aggressive actions by all powers attacking Syrian land, including Israel.
He warned that failure to do so would lead to negative consequences.
Reflecting on the ongoing genocide in Gaza over the past 15 months, Erdoğan acknowledged the importance of a ceasefire, recognizing it as a crucial opportunity for achieving lasting peace and stability throughout the region.
