Türkiye’s TDV Shelters Bring Hope to Idlib Orphans Amid Syrian Conflict

In the heart of the ongoing Syrian civil war, hundreds of orphans in Idlib, Syria, have found shelter and hope through the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV).

The TDV has opened orphanages across the region, providing care to 760 children whose lives have been shattered by the conflict.

These shelters are supported by a partnership with the Pakistan-based Selam Evi Charity Association, which funds all essential services, including food, medical care, and winter supplies.

In the Beytüselam Orphan Village, 170 children live in a state-of-the-art facility complete with a park, futsal court, basketball court, and cultural center.

This facility not only provides shelter but also offers educational opportunities, with children receiving language training, computer courses, and schooling from preschool through high school.

High school graduates are supported in their university aspirations, with preparation for entrance exams and continued academic assistance throughout their higher education.

The orphanages also house 230 mothers, providing them with shelter and care. TDV’s regional coordinator for Syria, Muhammet Furkan Topçu, emphasized the strong educational framework and security management in place, ensuring that children grow in a safe and nurturing environment.

In addition to educational support, TDV has constructed 216 homes as part of a social housing project, offering orphans who reach adulthood independent living spaces.

Topçu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the philanthropists supporting these initiatives, citing the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad: “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” as a guiding principle for their work.

The TDV’s comprehensive care and educational programs are a beacon of hope for these orphaned children, providing them not just with shelter, but with the tools to build a brighter future.
