In the ongoing political negotiations, the third round of talks between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government negotiation committee concluded at Parliament House.
During this session, PTI leader Omar Ayub presented the party’s written demands, signed by key members of the PTI negotiation committee.
The demands include the formation of two independent commissions of inquiry, one to investigate PTI founder Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9, 2023, and the second to examine the incidents from November 24-27, 2024, especially focusing on the use of force against protesters in Islamabad.
Irfan Siddiqui, a senior member of the government committee, acknowledged the submission of these demands and stated that a formal response would be provided within seven days.
Deputy Prime Minister Siddiqui also briefed both committees on the Gaza war’s geopolitical impact.
Despite this progress, there are concerns over potential delays, as PTI has set a deadline of January 31 for the conclusion of talks.
PTI has warned that failure to meet these demands could result in the collapse of negotiations and public protests.
The government has assured that there will be adequate time for deliberation, but emphasized that the negotiations must adhere to constitutional standards.
Both sides have expressed the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing political crisis.
